I was raised in Boulder, Colorado, and returned home after various stints in the Northwest (Seattle and Olympia), the Deep South (Tuscaloosa) and on the East Coast (Baltimore). I spent early adulthood torn between my two passions of writing and psychology, and eventually came to the conclusion that at 26, I was simply too young to be the kind of therapist I wanted to be. So I chose instead to focus on fiction and poetry, and received an MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore in 2006. This was followed by an eleven-year career in book publishing. As I rounded the corner of 40, I received my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and began my practice in downtown Boulder in 2019. I am immensely grateful and honored to have found my place in the world as a counselor.
